ucontrol modules

ucontrol | d-monitor provides insight into the DALI system and reports problems at a configurable frequency via an automatic e-mail. The dashboard allows the facility manager to get an instant overview of the status of the system.

Data readout

The pre-programmed brightness of a scene can also be easily adjusted per luminaire. In addition, data can also be read out via d-monitor from DALI-2 drivers that support it.

Via ucontrol, router status can also be easily read out.

ucontrol | e-monitor is a module for monitoring DALI emergency lighting. Duration and function tests are performed at programmed times. Manually starting the tests is also possible. The results of the tests are visible in the web interface.

Have you replaced a battery? Make a note of it at the relevant fixture. That way you always know what maintenance has been carried out. And it is visible in one central place.

Test results in pdf

Once the function and duration tests are performed, a pdf is automatically generated. Registered users receive the test results in their mailbox. The pdfs remain present in the system and can be retrieved at any time.

The ucontrol | light module provides an interface for controlling DALI lighting and blinds. It is also clear at a glance whether lighting remains on in the building via live feedback from the system.

Map structure

Through the map structure, the whole thing is fully scalable. Not only to the resolution but also to the functionality of the map.

There are four possibilities:
- Operation without feedback
- Toggle button with feedback
- Scene buttons
- Slider

Configuration

Through a simple configuration page, an authorised user can choose what a control card will look like and what actions to perform when operating.

Web operation via QR code

As an extension of ucontrol | light can be chosen to make the control page available via QR tags. The QR code is displayed on an E-ink screen and allows any user/visitor to control the lighting via their smartphone/tablet. This requires the device to be connected to the in-house wifi.

To comply with the BREEAM guideline, lighting in buildings where work is carried out by individual users must be provided per zone of no more than 40 m2 can be operated. Operation via QR tags is a perfect solution for this.

In ucontrol | floorplan all ucontrol modules are incorporated into a floor plan of the building. Controlling lighting, monitoring luminaires and adjusting scenes has therefore become even easier.

You can see at a glance if there are any problems in the installation and where they occur. A floor plan is also very useful for controlling lighting centrally

Via ucontrol | api the light management system can be linked to other systems. This is a customised solution with many possibilities. Information from the Helvar DALI routers can be used by third-party systems through this module, for example by a room booking system. It is also possible in the other direction so that a third party can gain access to control certain lighting.

ucontrol - floorplan in action @Provincial Court Bruges

Provincial Court Bruges makes full use of the ucontrol platform. There are many spaces with different functions. Several rooms are used for exhibitions and events. The lighting in these spaces must therefore be adjusted regularly. Via ucontrol - floorplan, the user can select a room and adjust the lighting as required. The changes can be stored in a scene so that they can be recalled at any time.

Frequently asked questions

No, ucontrol is an 'on premise' platform. This means that the platform runs entirely locally. All data collected is processed on the ucontrol server or gateway and is not sent to servers outside the network. However, it is necessary to have an internet connection to send reports and perform updates.

Within ucontrol, 'user management' is possible. Different users can be created and the users can be assigned roles. This makes it possible, for example, to have a manager who has administrator rights but also users who can only operate lighting.

By using the dynamic QR codes on our E-Ink displays, we can guarantee that, for example, a new code is used every day with a new uniquely generated link per zone. This validity is adjustable so that a new code can also be generated and displayed every hour, for example. The use of dynamic QR codes prevents, in the case of flexible workstations, being able to operate a workstation where work was done the previous day.
After scanning the QR code in a room, it is immediately possible to control the lighting in that room, no login is required. The set validity period of the QR code determines how long the room can be operated without having to scan the code again. This method makes it easy to share lighting control functionalities with, for instance, visitors to conference rooms, although they must have access to the WiFi network.
More information on this can be found in the ucontrol brochure.

A ucontrol server or a gateway is always required. A gateway is suitable for installations up to 50 DALI lines, above that a server is used. ucontrol | d-monitor is the basic module. On top of that, the ucontrol | e-monitor and ucontrol | light modules are purchased. ucontrol | api is always customised and on a quotation basis.
