Boulevard Zeezijde car park
Katwijk
Katwijk
The underground car park in Katwijk aan Zee is a unique car park. In 2016, the design won the 'Best building of the year' award. The parking garage is part of Kustwerk Katwijk. The former flood barrier that ran through the village of Katwijk no longer met safety requirements. Now the coast at Katwijk has been reinforced with a Dike-in-Duin. At the same time, the dune area has been widened and rearranged. An underground car park with 663 parking spaces has also been built between the dyke and the Boulevard. The construction of the car park made it possible to reduce the parking pressure in the centre area. Visitors can now park close to the beach and the centre.
This 'state-of-the-art' car park was equipped with intelligent lighting control by Helvar. Lighting is controlled based on motion detected by Helvar sensors. This saves energy without compromising on safety. In addition, an outdoor sensor is used which functions as a twilight switch and controls the outdoor lighting in cooperation with the astronomical timer of the router.
The LED light lines are switched by means of relay units. The other luminaires are fitted with DALI drivers and are dimmed in various scenes throughout the day.
In addition to controlling the lighting, Helvar also provided a solution for monitoring the lighting. Using a JACE, the car park operators can control the lighting remotely. Fault messages and the status of the lighting can also be read remotely; a service contract has been concluded with the municipality of Katwijk.
