Commissioned: DSV Moerdijk - the largest DC in the Netherlands

A gigantic 240,000 m2 distribution centre for DSV is rising on Logistic Park Moerdijk. The DC will be divided into 10 halls and will have 136 docks, a head office and 5 warehouse offices, 4 entrances and more than 1,000 parking spaces on the roof.

We were commissioned by Bras Elektrotechniek, responsible for the electrical installation, to supply and commission the lighting management system.

Intelligent light and shading control

The lighting in the warehouse and in the offices will be controlled by our Helvar Imagine lighting management system. For the lighting in the warehouse, our sensors are built into Veko light lines. This creates an optimal sensor network to ensure that the lighting is always on when needed.

For manual operation, our ucontrol platform is used. The software runs on several touchscreens that allow manual control of the lighting in the halls. The advantage of this software is that it is web-based, so the lighting could also be operated from any device.

To control the blinds, we supply motor actuators from Zisco. These are added to the light management system via relay units so that all systems can be controlled in a simple and user-friendly way.

BREEAM

The new DC is being developed according to BREEAM-NL Excellent standards. The lighting management system also contributes to this. Daylight sensors, for instance, adjust the lighting in the warehouse on the basis of the amount of outside light. The exterior and façade lighting is also switched via automatic clock programmes so that it is not lit unnecessarily.

Integration and monitoring

In the office environment, the light management system is integrated with the BMS based on BACnet. This ensures that our sensors can also be used to control the climate system.

We also link various systems via input units so that we can display notifications of faults on our touchscreens.

Cooperation and preparation

Because the project has a large scope, we consider it important to prepare well and work closely with Bras Elektrotechniek. We therefore try to provide the Bras staff involved with all the technical information they need as well as possible. We do this by providing on-site training, for example. We also already prepare as many things as possible at the office so that we can work efficiently on site.
