Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen

Rotterdam

In spring 2018, we were commissioned by Bam Bouw en Techniek to supply and commission the lighting management system for the Boijmans Van Beuningen Depot. The system provides control of all lighting in the depot.

A key factor behind the choice of the Helvar system is that the system prevents the lighting 100% from switching on after the luminaires have been de-energised. For safety reasons, the luminaires are de-energised if no movement is detected. By default, the DALI protocol causes luminaires on 100% to light up when they are energised, but through the Helvar system this can be prevented.

"Helvar was chosen for its overarching user-friendliness and the many options in control. In addition, the quality of components and services! That was the deciding factor for us in prescribing the system."

Wout Braber, Head of Housing and Maintenance Boijmans Van Beuningen

The lighting in the depot is divided into zones. As soon as the sensors detect movement, a relay ensures that power is supplied to the luminaires. The lighting in the first zone will come on fully, the second zone on 40% and the third zone on 20%. If movement is detected in the next zone, the lighting will also come on fully here. The moment no movement is detected in all zones for 5 minutes, all luminaires are de-energised again.

To control the lighting in the common areas, a BACnet link was created with the building management system. This enhances user-friendliness because the user does not have to operate all kinds of systems separately.
