State office the Knot

The Government Property Agency has transformed the former Lieutenant General Knoop Barracks into a modern government office that houses several government departments. Part of the old building has been demolished, while the remaining parts have undergone a large-scale transformation. Consortium R Creators - consisting of consortium partners Strukton, Ballast Nedam and Facilicom - realised the redevelopment.
On behalf of R Creators, Helvar realised the light management system. The light management system provides energy savings and optimum comfort for the building's users.
All rooms are equipped with presence and absence sensors. In addition, the lighting management system is integrated with the building management system via a BACnet link. As a result, information from the motion sensors can also be used to switch on ventilation, heating or cooling. Also, based on presence detection, it can be determined which rooms have been used in a given period.
The flexibility of a DALI network system ensures that lighting can always be easily adjusted without the need for installation modifications.
The government office was realised within a Design, Build, Finance, Maintain & Operate (DBFMO) contract. This means that R Creators will be responsible for managing and maintaining the building for 20 years after completion. Service and maintenance were therefore important topics during the awarding process.
Helvar provides this through an online service in which defects and other faults in the (emergency) lighting are automatically reported to the on-site operator. This minimises the time a room is out of use, fixes faults early and provides maximum user comfort.
