Care centre Weidesteyn is a large, modern building in which each room has its own atmosphere and dynamics. The wards are furnished with cosy living rooms and sufficient areas for social activities. It goes without saying that good, targeted care and treatment for the residents is a priority.

A good and healthy living environment in which the residents are central also requires a thought-out and appropriate lighting plan. As more and more is known about the influence of light on human condition, Fagerhult's dynamic lighting was jointly chosen. This has now been implemented on two wards to ensure that patients' biorhythms (daily rhythms) are properly maintained or that the rhythm returns.

Through the Helvar DALI light management system dynamic programming of lighting has been applied. This 'biological' control ensures that residents receive the right amount of light in the right light colour at the right times. This should make residents calmer and sleep better.

The light colour and intensity is carefully set according to human biorhythms and is also adjusted during activities. Programming automatically takes into account sunrise and sunset using Helvar routers' built-in astronomical timer.

After several months, the experiences with the lighting and programming in practice are very positive. Residents have better sleep and are less active at night thanks to the dynamic lighting and programming.
