Smart lighting in industry

In industrial environments, good lighting is essential for safety, productivity and energy efficiency. A lighting management system helps tailor lighting optimally to the room and users' needs. Automatic control and energy management reduce unnecessary consumption while improving comfort and working conditions. This results in sustainable and efficient lighting for production halls, warehouses and logistics environments.

Improved working environment

By ensuring that there is always sufficient light when it is needed, safety and productivity in the working environment are improved.

Energy efficiency

A lighting management system optimises energy consumption through daylight control, presence detection and time control.

Less maintenance

Intelligent lighting control improves the service life of luminaires. Lighting can also be monitored centrally so that malfunctions can be remedied quickly.

Frequently used functionalities in industry

Broadcast control

With a broadcast lighting control system, all connected luminaires receive the same signal. They all react the same to switching or dimming commands. This is perfect in warehouses, for example.

High-bay and dedicated sensors

Industrial halls and warehouses are often high. That is why high-bay sensors are used that can be placed at great heights. We also have special sensors that can be used down to -20 degrees.

Monitoring

Through Helvar Insights or ucontrol, the light management system can be monitored. Faults can be displayed as well as the fixtures' burning hours. This provides insight and allows efficient maintenance.

Daylight control

In halls where there is a lot of daylight entry, our daylight sensor is often used. It measures the amount of daylight to which the amount of artificial light is adjusted.

One central system

With a Helvar lighting management system, the lighting of offices, halls, the outdoor area and the façade can be managed in one integrated system.

Integration with third parties

The light management system can be integrated with third-party systems, e.g. via BACnet, Modbus or API. This makes for a smarter and more sustainable building.

A higher BREEAM score

A Helvar light management system increases working comfort and supports smart building management. Automatic lighting control of indoor and outdoor lighting, presence detection and daylight regulation maximise energy savings. All data from sensors and luminaires can also be read out and visualised.

In short, all functionalities that contribute to a better BREEAM score.

Case study: Van Marcke, Kortrijk

In early 2019, Van Marcke opened a new headquarters and distribution centre in Kortrijk. The building is no less than 90,000 m2 in size, completely CO2 neutral and water independent. In addition to the heat and water installations, the lighting management system is also a key component in the sustainable building.
