Our software engineers are driven specialists who commission our systems on site. The team consists of around 20 people in the Netherlands and Belgium who together carry out some 200 projects a year. Together with the installer, they ensure that the lighting system meets the client's wishes and requirements.
To get started with the software yourself, we provide a software training course that will give you the knowledge to configure a basic system.
To ensure an optimally functioning lighting system, our software engineers are involved in the project at an early stage. Their work is divided into three phases: preparation, on-site commissioning and aftercare.
In the preparation phase, as much work as possible is carried out in the office. The engineers place addresses with the luminaires on the lighting drawings so that they can be quickly identified on site. The desired functionalities are incorporated into a function matrix, which defines the lighting groups and their functionalities for each room. Scenes are also included, so that every engineer can commission the system to the same specifications. In addition, touch screens are prepared with a standard layout or customised visualisation, depending on customer requirements.
After the preparations, engineers on site start commissioning the system. This starts with identifying all luminaires and field components, which are then correctly named and grouped. After that, the functionalities from the function matrix are assigned to the groups and components, so that the system functions fully as desired.
After commissioning, the system is extensively tested together with the customer. This ensures that it fully meets the requirements and wishes set. Should anything not work properly after delivery, our service department is ready to analyse and solve any malfunctions quickly.
With this structured approach, we deliver systems that not only work perfectly technically, but also match the specific needs of our clients.

DALI stands for 'Digital Addressable Lighting Interface'. The DALI protocol is the worldwide standard for professional and digital control of lighting. All major lighting manufacturers have come to an agreement on how a lighting system should communicate with the control and operating systems. This is laid down by the IECC in the technical standard IEC62386. The DALI standard describes what manufacturers must comply with in order to manufacture DALI-certified equipment. Besides controlling lighting, the luminaires can also be easily monitored via DALI for, for example, energy consumption.
Helvar has been manufacturing lighting components since 1949 and played an active role in the creation of the DALI protocol in 1999. As a member of the DALI Alliance Board, Helvar is closely involved in the developments of the protocol.
